Margaret, Birth Doula
Margaret became interested in doula work through her AmeriCorps service at Community Health Center in Denver, Colorado. There, she learned the importance of patient centered care and was exposed to birth workers who advocated for a woman's choice to birth how and where she wanted. She became interested in birth as a means of empowerment for women. With the increased medicalization and fear surrounding birth in our culture, Margaret has been fascinated with the idea that the entrance into motherhood doesn't have to be this scary. It has the potential to strengthen women and open their eyes to their unique and individual inner-strength. She strives to educate women that birth is a natural process that their bodies were designed to do. She continues to educate herself through the doula community in Cleveland by attending educational events and programs led by local midwives and experienced birth workers. Margaret is certified to teach yoga and values the importance of breath and meditation during the birth process. After completing a DONA International training in Colorado, Margaret returned to Cleveland and has served women as a birth doula. Her powerful experiences in the birthing room have further motivated her to continue this work towards fostering confidence and feminine intuition within communities of women.

Camille, Birth Doula
Camille first became interested in birth work through her years of working in the fields of mental health and holistic wellness. She witnessed first hand the impact that support, resources, and a spark of internal motivation can have on a person's life. Camille believes that holistic health and birth support are deeply connected. By working with women and children who had experienced significant trauma, she began to see how important a healthy mother child bond is for all involved. Pregnancy, birth, and postpartum are significant times for a mother to feel supported, to have access to resources and options, and to tune inward for motivation, guidance, and strength. An empowering birth experience has the innate potential to create a deeply maternal bond between mother and child, and a ripple effect of healing in a woman's life.
Camille is an experienced yoga instructor and believes that breath, meditation, and the physical aspects of a yoga practice are incredibly beneficial before, during, and after birth. Camille was introduced to the birth community in Hawaii where she briefly shared mentorship with a long time birthworker and doula; she was shown that birth has become an experience many women fear due to the medicalization of this natural process. Inspired to serve women and motivated to learn more, she completed a DONA International training in Seattle, WA. Camille recently returned to Cleveland to pursue her passion for supporting women in full spectrum reproductive health care. She continues to develop her skills and knowledge by attending workshops with fellow birth workers and midwives. She is continually amazed by the strength and courage of the women she serves. Camille believes that when a women is supported, she feels safe, and when she feels safe, she can let go and trust.
