What is Sound Healing?
Sound Healing is an ancient practice that uses vibrations and sound frequencies to re-tune the body to a natural state of balance; promoting mental, spiritual and physical well being. During a session the therapist uses a variety of instruments such as crystal and Himalayan singing bowls, tuning forks, chimes, vocalization and other instruments along with the intention for healing to create a unique experience for the client's individual needs.
How do Sound Baths help us find balance?
The act of receiving a sound bath facilitates moving, balancing, grounding and clearing of the bodies energy. In our bodies, we have a long nerve that runs from the brain, down into our lower abdominal organs called the Vagus Nerve. This nerve is responsible for all of our bodily functions we don't think about (Our Parasympathetic System), like, breathing, heartbeat, digestion, our "Fight or Flight" response and more. While this nerve does not take an active part in processing sound, its proximity to the nerves that do, cause it to react, causing a substantial effect to the body. Long sustained sounds created by the instruments we use in sound healing, are very soothing to our parasympathetic system. These long soothing tones allow our bodies to relax and calm our nerves, taking us out of our daily fight and flight responses.
What are the benefits of incorporating sound healing into a therapeutic massage session?
Sound healing treatments can help to alleviate symptoms of anxiety, insomnia, chronic pain and support in the release of grief and other emotions. Our parasympathetic system is located closely to our Limbic System, and also responds to sound. The Limbic system plays a huge part in our emotional life and the creation of memories. When sound healing is combined with therapeutic massage, negative emotions clinging to the body in the mind and muscles begin to clear from the inside out.
Sound therapy pairs wonderfully with massage and reiki and is for anyone who is seeking deeper relaxation and peace. Read more about reiki and its benefits here.

Sound Healing and Pregnancy
By the 6th month of pregnancy, your baby's hearing is completely functional. Sound is an amazing way to connect to your baby and begin to teach them about the world that awaits them. Speaking to your baby and playing them your favorite music, might just help them develop similar tastes and help you bond. Your baby relies on you and your reactions to learn associations to the outside world. If you hear things that relax you, your baby can develop a positive association and even an emotional response. With Prenatal Sound Healing, we begin that process of introducing mom and baby to relaxing and soothing sounds. We introduce a verity of calming instruments in a relaxing environment, allowing you to soak in the moment. We watch for movements in the stomach and watch how mom and baby react to the calming music.
Sound Healing for Postpartum
Sound Healing helps soothe our parasympathetic system and our limbic system where our bodies and minds physically store stress, worry, and memories. The Fourth Trimester comes with its own set of challenges, as your body, mind, and family adjust to a new routine. Sound Healing can help ease the stress and anxiety that develops during this period by soothing those overactive systems in our body. Taking this moment to yourself can also help you mentally process birth and the new stressors in a safe and soothing environment.
