The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy®
What is ATMAT?
The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy® are based on the ancient Maya techniques of abdominal massage. This therapy is an external, gentle manipulation that helps to reposition internal organs of the digestive and reproductive system. Repositioning organs that have shifted help to restore healthy and optimal blood, lymph, nerve, and energy flow within the body. This massage helps to support the bodies natural healing capacity to prevent disease within the body.
History and Lineage of the Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy®
The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy® are a combination of science and ancient tradition that an American woman, Dr. Rosita Arvigo, developed throughout her lifetime of studying the human body and the healing properties of plants. She has lived in Central America for over thirty years apprenticing with several healers including Don Eliijio. He was a Shaman in Belize who was famous for his uterine massage techniques and extensive knowledge of rain-forest plants. She also studied with Miss Hortence Robinson, a renowned herbal midwife in Belize. Combining ancient wisdom and modern science, Rosita was able to develop The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy® to address digestive and reproductive ailments and gives clients self-care tools to nurture and heal their own bodies. In 1994 she began the Arvigo Institute to teach other health practitioners this powerful and sacred work.
